How to Save Twitch VOD Videos

When you stream on Twitch, you can upload your recordings known as Highlights or you can save them as VODs to keep forever on your channel. VODs are videos that are made up of segments of your livestream that you select and edit together. Depending on the settings you have for your channel, VODs can be watched by viewers at any time. Views on VODs do not count towards your subscriber total.

In order to save a Save Twitch VOD Videos, first find the video you want to download on your channel. This is easy to do, as it’s located underneath the primary playback area. Once you click the VOD button, you’ll be brought to a new page with the options to edit, promote, and download the selected clip. To download the VOD, you’ll simply have to click the three-dot button in the top right corner of the VOD page and then choose the option to “Download”.

Alternatively, you can also go to your profile icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, then select the “Video Producer” tab from the drop-down menu. This will bring up a list of your past broadcasts, including VODs. To download a VOD, just click the three-dot button and then choose to “Download”.

You can also enable VODs automatically by going to your Stream Settings in the Creator Dashboard and flipping the toggle next to “Store Past Broadcasts”. You’ll still have the option to turn off broadcast archiving at any time.

In addition to saving your own VODs, you can also save other streamers’ broadcasts by using a third-party tool such as Twitch Leecher. This tool can be downloaded from the App Store, and once it’s installed, you can launch it from your iPhone’s apps list, tap on Network, then scroll down to the Downloads section at the bottom of the screen. Once you see a green tick next to the name of the video you’d like to download, tap it to start downloading it.

Alternatively, you can use the free open source software program called TwitchDownloader. Both the GUI version for Windows and the CLI version for Linux are available on the GitHub website, and both require 64-bit Windows. The GUI is the easier choice if you’re using a PC that runs 64-bit Windows. The software works with any platform, but it’s better for those with 64-bit Windows and the latest version of DirectX. The program will automatically detect the best download quality for your connection speed, but you can adjust it manually if desired. You can also change the number of threads it uses to download the file (more threads mean faster downloads, but they can use up more CPU and bandwidth). Once you’re happy with your selection, click Start Download to begin the process. Depending on the size of the VOD, this may take some time. Once it’s done, you can watch the video by navigating to the file location and opening it with a media player of your choice.
