Pinus ponderosa, Ponderosa Pine or Western Yellow pine. Grows in the western United States. Zone 3-6 Grows to 235 feet. But most, however, do not grow that tall. (35 feet in 20 years.) Ponderosa pine trees are rather large specimens inhabiting the Rocky Mountains Region of North America. Those in my area grow in the desert mountains of western Utah where there is very little rain and winter snowfall. It has three medium long needles in a each bunch. It tolerates many soil types and is very drought tolerant. Can be planted in the landscape instead of Scots or Austrian pine. The reddish bark has an vanilla aroma. It is frequently used as a bonsai. The pictured tree is a representation of the trees that are for sale. It is in a #1 pot. The tree height is about 18 inches.
